Public Safety Distributed Antenna System
Distributed Antenna System (DAS)
Distributed Antenna System (DAS) provides wireless service via separated small indoor coverage antennas that are connected to a common source such as a Bi-Directional Amplifier (BDA) that repeats a radio frequency signal from an outside rooftop donor antenna. These systems are installed in areas where the signal is restricted or is in need of a boost. A DAS can be used indoors (iDAS) and outside (oDAS).
Public safety DAS benefits
Public Safety DAS ensures that first responders can maintain in-building communication in a crisis. This allows them to unify their efforts which provides a more efficient response to that emergency. Emergency communications are needed during fires, natural disasters, security threats, and more.
Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement Systems, which it is also known as, ensures that radio signals can penetrate all areas of buildings, including areas that are especially difficult for RF to penetrate such as stairwells, elevators, basements, and thick-walled or shielded areas.
A reliable Distributed Antenna System can make all the difference during an emergency. That is why institutions such as NFPA and IFC set regulations and work with local governments to ensure that requirements and measures are set in place to generate more efficient, reliable, and life saving communications for emergency responders and those affected by a crisis.
